Despertar CEBI | Março 2019 | Projetos Transnacionais

I John Weir is 49 years old and he is the Principal of Saint Mary’s Parish Primary School (SMPPS) at Drogheda, Dublin. He has been a part of the educational system for the last 30 years and has been teaching at SMPPS since 2004.

o parceiro perfeito the perfect partner

He has a bachelor’s degree in Educational Sciences and Information Technology, and a master’s degree in Art. His most meaningful international work experiences include having been a teacher for two years in Rome, Italy, and eight years in Tokyo, Japan, and finally his role as a Project Coordinator in the Erasmus+ context.

The planning phase of an interna- tional project can involve a degree of blind hope and trust – do the partners share your vision for the enterprise? Will the team work well together? When we assembled our part- nership for an Erasmus “KA2” project in 2016 I had n o idea of rare gem we had discovered in Colégio José Álvaro Vidal and Fundação CEBI. From our first exchange it was clear that in CEBI we had a partner fully committed to international partner- ships. There is the highest level of preparation and planning in every- thing they do, an incredible atten- tion to detail in their engagement with the projects they are involved in. In addition they exemplify the idea of teachers as reflective prac - titioners. They value feedback and

constantly strive to improve and learn through experience. There exists an immense creative spirit in CEBI. It flows from the administration, the teachers and shines through the students’ music, dance and artwork. CEBI possess the facilities and expertise on staff to produce professional materials and to showcase their work at a level that most schools could only dream of. These facilities and cre- ativity are fully brought to bear in all project work. It was an easy decision to continue to work with CEBI. They bring a level of dedication and creativity to a project that would be hard to find elsewhere. I look forward to another visit to Alverca and to rediscover- ing the ‘CEBI experience’!
